Hi, you’ve reached the GOSU Booking page.
This friendly crew is rooted in new but already established
record store in Frankfurt am Main in Germany. Founder and owner Manuel Schatz started the store in 2016 along side Phil Evans and Niels Diezel who have all played international venues and are very kühl.
Phil’s career started in Mainz where he was often a warmup DJ at several student clubs. His passion for House and Techno music blossomed when he started visiting Freebase and going out in Frankfurt - in particular, to Robert Johnson. Through being an apprentice at Freebase Records, he learned a lot about DJing and track selection and this knowledge fed into his productions. Those productions steadily improved, eventually ending up on the labels Raum—Musik, Pager records, Sensual and most importantly GOSU. He has to date, put out three releases under the moniker Thomas Rooge and the fourth release is coming soon. He runs the GOSU record store and in-house label together with Manuel Schatz and also co-owns Pager records with his production and DJ partner Markus Sommer.
Rob has been collecting, playing and making records for some years now, initially starting out London. A chance encounter led him to Frankfurt and after a short while he decided to relocate out to the Main area. A long time friend of Freebase and now GOSU, his skills developed with the encouragement of Manuel & Phil and consequently has a handful of releases forthcoming, however you’ll have to keep your eyes and ears open to find out what’s coming next.
Robin started exploring electronic music and production in his hometown of Aschaffenburg. From his frequent visits to Robert Johnson in Frankfurt he came to posses a clearer idea of how electronic music should sound. Taking inspiration from all facets of the local scene, he worked hard to develop his sound and on the labels GOSU and Pager Records he found the perfect outlet for his music. The most important things in life for Robin are having a good time with his friends and producing quality house music.
Tiago, the calmest human being you’ll ever meet, started out playing records at home and producing music shortly afterwards. His focus on electronic music and interest in collecting vinyl started to grow as a result of private jam sessions and frequent visits to Robert Johnson. From day one, he was a regular customer at GOSU and thus became friends with Manuel and also Phil, who ending up becoming his flatmate. This friendship grew and has culminated in his first three tracker getting signed to Sturo.
Tom began listening to techno at the age of 14 and just one year later began experimenting with production. Once he turned 18, he moved to Berlin and organised a number of parties in the German capital. However, his discovery of Robert Johnson in Offenbach changed everything and he moved back to his hometown, where his skills as a promoter led him to forge several strong connections in the Frankfurt / Offenbach scene. As a frequent customer of GOSU he eventually plucked up the courage to show some of his productions to Manuel and Phil and as a result got his first opportunity to release an EP together with Robin Stern on GOSU’s sub-label, Sturo.
Nils started collecting records at the early age of 17. Later on also he worked at Freebase alongside Manuel and Phil and became familiar with the sound of Frankfurt. He was involved in the conception of the GOSU project and is one of the co-founders. Furthermore, he has recently contributed an EP to Sturo, following on from releases on other labels such as Nixwax and Tommy Vicari Jnr’s imprint Les Temps Difficiles. Besides being a DJ and producing music his interests include playing sport and travelling but we would be remiss not to mention his greatest love: dogs.
Having held a residency at Robert Johnson since 2011, Manuel Schatz has developed into to one of the most significant DJs in the Frankfurt area. He was a full-time staff member at Freebase Records & Sneakers and was in charge of the store’s musical alignment. Once Freebase had closed down in June 2016 he became the head honcho at GOSU, a record store and label based in Frankfurt. Through the label, he had his first output as a producer and contributed four tracks to the fifth instalment of the GOSU catalog.
